Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
         Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann’d:
         Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

Facebook vs Web Site

So many people go to face book to see up’s new because so many people are on face book to see who’s doing what, who said what and look at at all the pictures, comments, preaching and selling or promoting this that and the other.

My goal for this web site and blog  is not to compete with face book, but to do a better job at what I know about and can do better than anybody else. My music.

I felt like a computer midget ’cause the widget would not fit in it.

Its working now so I hope somebody will go and visit my widget

Un-Retired

Well I was retired but now I’m un-retired. I liked being retired but I think I’m

going to enjoy be re- employed at American Freestyle Karate for a while.

Due to changes in staff personal and new mergers my former employer

asked me to return. My old motto ‘ Change Is the Only Constant Factor

In the Universe’ has served me well in the past and I trust it will continue

to do so in the future.

Memory Lane

Here’s a great project, that will fill you full of gratitude and reminiscing:

Try to write down all the friends you’ve ever had – from memory.

No address book, no phone, no Facebook. Just memory.

Remember all those people you met and connected with that made a difference in your life. It’s amazing how many are still in your head.

childhood friends you haven’t seen since you were 8.

teachers

old crushes and flings

random encounters with great conversations

There are some you’ll remember who don’t remember you. (There are some you’ve forgotten who remember you well.)

I did mine chronologically, walking through my life from past to present. What a trip.

Some are dead. Some might be. Some have changed their names. Some hate me.

Some day I’ll be dead, and this will still be posted. (A reverse funeral! The dead remembering the living. Wow.)

To those listed here: I remember you off the top of my head, think of you fondly, and you permanently affected me, even if we haven’t talked in years. If you find this some day when

googling your name, contact me to say hello.

Counting

November 10, 2011

While working out at home and counting reps I got bored counting so instead of using numbers I started repeating words like honor-respect-attitude-excellence-compassion ( repeated 3 times = 15 reps ). I’m sure this is nothing new, but it helped me while working out alone and maybe could be used in a class. Use your own list of 5 words (anything positive)

When you chase knowledge and creativity, wealth and abundance will chase you.

If you chase wealth and abundance, knowledge and creativity will be hard to achieve,

Loving Your Work

October 6, 2011

First – Love the work you do.

Second – Don’t expect everybody else to love it as much as you do.

Third – If you’re lucky somebody might LIKE it, a little.

Fourth – Love the work you do.

My middle name

    • September 24,2011For some reason I’ll never know why my parents gave me Ray for a middle name. I guess they figured James Ray Landry sounded good. James became Jimmie and I never thought much about Ray until I heard a guy on the radio named Ray Charles. Besides feeling an instant love for his sound, I guess because there was some connection that we shared the same name and that made his music reach me deeper. For whatever reason a middle name connected us I felt I needed to play like him and sound like him. Of course there’s no way I was going to come close to the ‘genius’ of Ray Charles, but just to learn his songs and get payed to play them in public was OK with me. After going to hear him in person in 1958 I was inspired even more by just being in the same room as him. His soul touched me and lifted me right up on the stage with him. Each of the following four performances I went to see him over the next thirty years was a religious experience. His presence would send me into Ecstasy.  In 1980 I saw him in a small club in Houston Texas. I was seated about twenty feet from him and the energy from his body was so strong it felt like he could pick up that grand piano and throw it at me. His records, CDs, videos and his movie “Ray” are all  a poor substitute for an in person performance, but they do provide a good sample for  those who did not or never will have a “live” experience.  His spirit lives on in any medium you want to tap into. Hallelujah I just love him so!

High Bird

September 17, 2011

Hi bird

What’s the word?

Sing  the harmonic third and

I’ll give you a new word for bird

A word that nobody has ever heard.

As far as stars can fly is where you wonder

Why is the sky simply high.

Where do we stare when we see glare in the air?

Are we aware that they are there

and where we stare is really just air?

That is there and we are here.

Stars do fly and the new word for bird is ‘By-and-high’.

Don’t wonder when  birds go high

Just say HI and by and by you’ll be high.
